ICE ICE BABY

A little bit of this....
Leads to this....

Which leads to a day of this... mmm...coffee, DVR, some Wii, creeping on Facebook, shopping...& I never have to get out of my comfy clothes... Heaven....

Well, really...

I have to do this first...

(I'm kind of behind...I'm ALWAYS behind, I have the kind of job that just keeps on giving!)

I love my job, I love my job, I love my job...

Notice the scars on my new book? New, as in, like 3 days old, book...

We're raising a true teacher's kid, our furson likes books, I mean LOVE, LOVE, LOVES them. Don't leave them in his sight unattended. He's quite talented...he's learned to read with his teeth. grrr. My bookshelves do not house pretty, pristine books, nope, our books are well used. This was a gentle read for him. Some don't have covers at all. Atleast I can finish this one, maybe I'll learn my lesson someday & put my books away, Montana hasn't learned his.

There will no doubt be A LOT of this today. Lucky for you, you can't hear the poor, pitiful grunting & whining & exaggerated sighing that goes with that poor, pitiful face. He has a very short memory when it involves doings of the outside. Just a few short hours ago he wanted very little to do with the crunchy grass & glass sidewalk.

Don't worry, he will get his way. He is a spoiled ROTTEN only child & we will go out & crunch around in the grass later. And that will lead to a lot of this. Nice huh? Go ahead, laugh at him, we do it all the time. He doesn't care, he won't even move.

Hopefully this spoiled little creature stays warm & unlonely today. Sorry Pete-Pete. I hope the kids fed you yesterday before they left.

Brock's at work, he said it wasn't "that bad." One thing we've learned in our 3 winters in Tejas...they don't play around with this ice business. Panic I tell you, sheer panic, almost to the point of comical. No, maybe past the point of comical... I don't even get to watch the Today show on my day off, the local news has taken over with their talk of sand trucks & on ramps, & closings & below freezing temps... Oh, well, whatever, I get a day off out of the deal. SWEET! oh, wait, I get to work anyway, off to grade papers... Happy ICE day!

New Furniture

We went up to Stillwater a few weekends ago to watch the Cowboys.
On our way home we couldn't help but stop at Mathis Brothers just to look.
We left with a purchase ticket for a new king sized bed & matress, a new dresser & bedding.

We bought it on a Sunday & it was delivered the following Wednesday. Brock & I have been sleeping on a full sized bed forever. It was time...
The bed actually has the canopy rails that go around the top (you can see them under the bed), but the delivery guys were missing the hardware that holds them on. I'm not heartbroken about it, I actually think we'll just leave them off (& move them out from under the bed of course), but I want to see what they look like before I make the final decision.

The TV takes the place of the big mirror that goes with the dresser.
So we had to find another home for it.

We didn't have to look too hard. I think it looks pretty good above
the buffet thing in the living room.

Our house is feeling more & more like a home, slowly but surely.
We need something above the bed & on the walls in the bedroom.
Some curtains, some color, & some different accessories for the dresser.
One step at a time, right?

Not My Grandma's Bowling Alley

We went with the Knapps to Shenaniganz last night. Good times, good times...

Matt & Liz...they take completely normal pictures.
Shenaniganz has really cool bowling balls. Do you see the 3 Stoogies? It's the simple things that make me giggle.

Check out the form. Yes, those are GIANT screens that played music videos all night. We bowled in the Z lounge (only for BIG kids). The big bowling alley that isn't in the lounge had the senior bowl playing on the screen. Pretty freaking cool.
I of course used the black & white stripey ball. Again, the simple things. :)

Liz & I... we take normal picutres...

Brock & I do not take normal pictures. Take 1.

Take 2...

Take 3...

Take 4...

Take 5...closer to normal. We might've had a little "aiming fluid" at this point
& it might be past our bedtime.

Take 6... not even close, funny though.
See, perfectly normal....

Two hour & three whole games...no one broke 300. Brock got better as the night went on. Matt went down hill. Liz blamed having a baby on her low score... Maybe I blame growing up in the bowling alley...wait, then I should have rocked & I clearly didn't.

Matt did rock at skeeball...or maybe the game was busted.

And he won Liz a crown, but the prize store thing had already close. Sad story.
We'll have to get it next time.

One last try for a normal picture, maybe we aren't normal, but clearly we had A LOT of fun. And I really like my new funky hat. :o)

2009 To-do list

Busy, busy, busy... We've gone back to work & I feel like I'm burning the candle at both ends & in the middle. Committees here, tutoring there, parent meetings, book studies, long hours, grading, planning, oh & a little teaching. If someone had told me how little teaching I would actually do...sorry, that's a whole other blog. I love my job, I really do, when I get to do it. Brock's working overtime, still. It takes everything we have just to keep the house clean. I miss Christmas break.

I find that the only way I ever get anything accomplished is to make list. Otherwise my "oh, shiny" syndrome kicks in. (still does even with the list) I have daily list, weekly list, hourly list...so why not a yearly list?
Things I want to do in 2009 -
1. LOSE WEIGHT - we have a tropical vacation in our future (actual destination TBD) MOTIVATION.
2. Try to leave school @ school - this involves more list making & making sure that my list are DONE before I come home. That helps with the physical act of leaving papers, etc. there, mentally leaving it there will be a big challenge.
3. Leave school by 5 everyday - starting tomorrow, I guess. I haven't been successful so far, but I am getting better.
4. Read more grown up books - I just started My Sisters Keeper.
5. Paint the dinning room table - finish the dinning room
6. Buy bedroom furniture - DONE! Pictures to come, probably this weekend.
7. RELAX - This is a struggle for me, my mind is constantly going. Hence the list. I'm not sure how to check this one off when I complete it. I guess this is more of a goal.
8. Go to church & ABF the weekends that we are here
9. Decide about kids...when, if, whatever.
10. Decide about getting my masters...do I want to be in the classroom forever?
11. Get a barn put up outside
12. Scrapbook at least a page a month - better get on this!
13. Run a 5K - Maybe Remember the 10 in April, the 18th to be exact
14. Walk Montana at least once a week
15. Hang out with the girls more often.

Brock's list
1. Beat me at Hula Hoop - I am now the CHAMPION! :o)

I'm sure I will add more, sometimes my daily list has more than 15 things. Hopefully Brock will add to his.

I don't wanna work...

I just wanna bang on the drum all day...

Have you seen those new commercials that use that song?? Man I wish someone would come drop a massive beach ball at school...AWESOME!

Anyway...

Brock & I head back to the daily grind tomorrow after two blissful weeks of not much. I don't know if there is enough coffee in the world for the morning. It's going to be ugly, really, really ugly...I don't think we've gotten out of bed before 8 all break. When the alarm goes off at 5:00am...well, let's not talk about it, okay?
We've really enjoyed not have any real obligations. We've been productive and lazy. I think Montana has loved having us around. Isn't that a sweet, sweet face? I love that he is getting more lovey, the older he gets...but I don't love that he is getting older. He's my baby...

Brock got all his fancy headlights installed on his car. It was evidently hard work, seeing that it took most of the day.

But the results were worth it. Pretty fancy, huh?
The picture doesn't really do it justice. I admit, they are pretty cool...for headlights.

On a hilarious note... Here's Brock Hula Hooping. I love it, it makes me giggle, a lot. So far we are loving the Wii (Brock's b-day present) & I love, love, LOVE the Wii Fit! Brock just likes beating my scores. Whatever dude, I'll let you be the Hula Hoop champ. For now....

Okay, bedtime...yes, it's 8:45 & I don't care. Remember, I have to get up at 5. Hopefully coffee will be enough...

Up next, my (our) to-do list for 2009...

Merry Christmas to us...

Christmas is over. The tree is put away (tear), the slobbers washed off the stockings (more on that later) & most of the presents have found their new homes. It always amazes me how bare our house looks when we take down all of the Christmas decorations, it's sad actually. We were so busy with work & other Christmas parties that we didn't throw one of our own this year. Seeing that we are kind of out in the boonies nobody had the chance to see our FABULOUS (if I do say so myself) Christmas tree, in person, that is... now you can see it. Be sure to oohh & aww.

Christmas tree pictures just never turn our as good as the real thing. :o( The tree & the mantel are about all the decorating we did this year. We didn't get the OSU tree put up in the office, the red & white lights didn't get put up outside & none of the stuff that I usually hang on the wall made it up either. Slackers, I know... I did decorate the dining room some...

Christmas was great. We spent most of Tuesday (23rd) on the road & we were in Oklahoma the 24th-28th. There was (of course) SOO much food, good times with family & wonderful presents. Montana LOVES Christmas!

See why we clean the slobbers of the stockings?

He, of course, made out like a bandit. Spoiled much? Cows, mittens, a football, new Nylabone, Christmas tennis balls, treats, more bones... rotten dog!

Brock got all the headlight thingies for his car & he was more than excited. He is working on installing everything as we speak.

He also, got the new Call of Duty game (& the gun), Mario Cart (& 2 wheels), OSU stuff, a new grill for his car & other stuff that I'm sure I'm forgetting.

There aren't any pictures of me & my new Christmas presents (oh darn it!), but I got so many wonderful things! New curtains, a Wii Fit!, a new Dooney, blender, clothes, Super Mario Galaxy (said in a really high pitched voice), gift cards & lots of other gifts. I do have some pictures of some of my presents in their new homes.

New living room curtains!

Subway clock

Little table, green bucket & new towels (thanks Katie for the GC!)

We'll try not to be too boring. Hopefully you'll enjoy the peek in to our lives.

Happy New Year!
